Shawn Wade Photography
Hi, my name is Shawn and I started taking pictures when I was younger on the old disposable cameras, and the 35mm films. I wasn't very good back then but I enjoyed beautiful things. Since that time I have always had an urge to find new things to photograph but never had enough knowledge or good equipment to take any "decent" photos.
In the last 4 years I acquired my very first DSLR, and man did it change my perspective about photography. I could now take pictures and put them on my PC! This was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
So I started taking pictures of everything at every chance I got. I would shoot birthday parties, outings, family gatherings, pets etc etc.. Then I was asked to take pictures at my sister in-law's wedding... I thought to myself, I'm just a hobbyist what do I know about taking professional photographs!? What was I getting myself into? Was I ready for this huge leap forward? Did they have that much faith in me, when I clearly didn't?
I took a deep breath, swallowed the frog in my throat and said yes. I was so nervous, what if I didn't get any shots rite? What if I didn't get the most precious moments? What if I was a total failure!? That whole day prior to the wedding I was likely more nervous than the bride and groom put together. The final moments came and man I was shooting so many pictures and running around so much I don't remember much other than the blisters from those shoes! lol
But in all seriousness I was able to take pictures that blew me out of the water. I was a photographer! I was making beautiful memories! I didn't have the most expensive camera, but I had determination and persistence, and it paid off. The bride was very happy with the pictures I had taken, and I even got to eat some of the wedding cake!
Since then I have been more and more interested and driven to learn about photography and techniques. I have since upgraded to a few different camera bodies and can only get better with time, determination and practice.
Thanks for taking the time to read about lil ole me, and in Canada they always say.. "If they don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you handy!" :)
